TACURONG CITY, Sultan Kudarat – A passenger was killed and at least 10 others were injured when an improvised bomb went off inside a bus here at noon Sunday.
The Yellow Bus Lines (2588) was approaching the Tacurong City Integrated Transport Terminal in Barangay New Isabela City when the bomb exploded.
“It occurred at the rear portion of the bus while it was heading toward the bus terminal shortly before noon,” Col. Christopher Bermudez, Sultan Kudarat police director said in a radio interview.
The injured were rushed to St. Louis Hospital, less than 400 meters away.
Bermudez said extortion is one of the angles that they are looking into at the moment while they are still determining the identities of the attackers.
“We are still investigating, the extortion angle is among the possible motives the police are taking into consideration,” he said.
In the past, the bus firm plying the Davao-General Santos-Koronadal-Tacurong-Kidapawan route had been repeatedly subjected to bomb attacks and arson. (PNA)
