MANILA – Two agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs) in the province of Nueva Vizcaya received two delivery trucks from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), to help them transport their products that could generate more income for their organizations.

The farm machinery, worth PHP570,000, is in line with the directive of DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III to improve the livelihood of the ARBs.

The recipients of the delivery trucks are the Greeners Multi-purpose Cooperative from the municipality of Bambang, and Villaverde Development Cooperative from the town of Villaverde.

Rustico Turingan, OIC-Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II, said the trucks would save time, effort, and money for the cooperative as these resolve the need to rent vehicles to immediately deliver agricultural products to markets and buyers on time.

“The trucks were provided through Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty program, a government initiative, which aims to mitigate hunger, ensure food security, and establish sustainable agriculture in the country,” Turingan said in a news release on Sunday.

He said under this program, ARBOs are also linked to institutional buyers, government agencies, and other consumers to supply their agricultural products.

“We expect that these vehicles would generate more income for the ARBs, in the coming days. We believe that easy access to transportation means more delivery, and also the time saved in transporting their products can now be spent on enriching their farms,” he said. (PNA)
