BUTUAN CITY – Police units here and in the nearby towns are hot on the trail of an inmate who bolted the city jail in Barangay Libertad early Friday morning.

In a report, the Butuan City Police Station 3 (BCPS3) said it was alerted around 6:35 a.m. by the Butuan City Jail about the escape pulled off by jailbird Romulo Cadampog of Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

Cadampog, 31, was charged with homicide in 2020 before the Regional Trial Court Branch 2 here.

“Based on the information provided by the personnel of Butuan City Jail, the subject is already a trustee assigned to the segregation of trash from the facility,” BCPS3 said.

The same report said Cadampog escaped around 4:30 a.m. by using the dog cage as a footing in scaling the wall of the jail facility.

“We already relayed and coordinated the information to the other police stations to help in the manhunt operation,” the BCPS3 said. (PNA)
