MANILA – Members of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested a 20-year-old man for selling a stolen motorcycle online.

In a statement on Wednesday, QCPD director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said BJ Vincent Escote was arrested by authorities in Barangay Balingasa in an entrapment on Tuesday night.

Reports showed that on Nov. 6, 2022, the victim, Claire Alcantara, reported that her gray and orange Yamaha Mio MXi motorcycle was stolen from her house in Barangay Tandang Sora.

On Tuesday, Alcantara found that her motorcycle was on sale through Facebook Marketplace so she went and sought help from the Talipapa Police Station, which resulted in the entrapment.

Alcantara posed as the buyer and agreed to meet with Escote on A. Bonifacio Avenue in Barangay Balingasa.

She positively identified her stolen motorcycle driven by Escote based on the attached motor vehicle file number and other distinguished markings.

Police found inside the motorcycle's compartment a loaded improvised handgun loaded and the vehicle's registration document which was under Alcantara’s name.

The suspect will be charged with Presidential Decree 1612 or Anti-Fencing Law and Republic Act 10591 or illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. (PNA)
