Agri, infra damage due to bad weather tops P1-B: OCD

MANILA – The amount of damage to agriculture and infrastructure damage from the effects of the low pressure area, shear line and northeast monsoon since Jan. 2 has now exceeded PHP1 billion, the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) said on Monday.

In its latest bulletin, the OCD said agricultural damage has reached PHP751.9 million in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen and Caraga.

Meanwhile, PHP276.7 million worth of infrastructure damage was logged in Mimaropa, Bicol, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The number of reported deaths has reached 35 -- 19 of whom have been validated while the rest are undergoing verification.

The number of injured and missing persons are 12 and seven, respectively.

Some 1,780 houses were damaged -- 1,232 of which were "partially damaged" while 548 were totally damaged.

Some 475,680 families or 1,939,860 individuals were affected.

Meanwhile, the number of displaced families is 31,617 or 121,996 persons. (PNA)
