'One-time, big-time' ops net P3.5-M shabu in Zambo Peninsula

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Police Regional Office in Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9) has seized some PHP3.5 million worth of illegal drugs during the week-long One-time, Big-time (OTBT) police operations in the region.

The total 87 buy-bust operations, conducted from Jan. 23-29, resulted in the confiscation of 522.9 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of PHP3.5 million.

“This week-long One-time, Big-time police operations aims to reduce crime and strengthen public safety in the region with the support of the community, in line with the mandates of the Philippine National Police,” said Brigadier Gen. Neil Alinsañgan, PRO-9 director, in a statement Monday.

Alinsañgan said the operations also resulted in 116 arrests, 16 of which involved most wanted persons.

Alinsañgan urged the region's police units to "remain steadfast in their mission."

The PRO-9 covers the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Sur and the cities of Isabela and Zamboanga. (PNA)
