MALASIQUI, Pangasinan- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has recorded 79,432 voter registrants in the province from December 2022 until the Jan. 31 deadline.

Provincial election supervisor Marino Salas said on Monday, the figure surpassed the 70,000 target of the province.

He said there were 42,063 regular voter registrants and 37,268 young people under Sangguniang Kabataan.

Salas said 50.3 percent were female while 49.7 percent were male registrants.

He attributed the high turnout to the satellite registration set up in schools and communities, and that they prioritized the students and the vulnerable sectors.

Dagupan City registered with the highest number of registrants followed by Urdaneta City, Malasiqui, San Carlos City, Alaminos City, Santa Barbara, Bolinao, Umingan, Mangatarem and Bayambang towns.

The applications being processed by Comelec offices all over the country are for registration, transfer from outside the city, transfer from within the city, transfer of registration records from post to local, change/corrections of entries in the registration records, reactivation of registration records, the inclusion of registration records, and reinstatement of the name in the list of voters.
