MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will seal on Sunday the more than 400 vote counting machines (VCMs) to be used for the special polls in the 7th Legislative District of Cavite next week.

In a statement, the poll body said Comelec chairman George Garcia would observe the simultaneous final testing and sealing to be conducted by the Electoral Boards (EBs).

The activity will be held at the Amaya Elementary School in Tanza, Cavite at 9 a.m.

The Poll Automation Law requires a final examination and testing of the VCMs to be used in each polling precinct.

The machines will then be closed and sealed by the EBs and will only be opened on Election Day.

The special polls will be held in the municipalities of Amadeo, Indang, and Tanza, as well as Trece Martirez City.

The election of the new representative of the 7th District of Cavite has been set after the post was vacated by former Rep. Jesus Crispin Remulla when he was appointed as secretary of the Department of Justice. (PNA)
