KORONADAL CITY – Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-12) agents have arrested seven drug suspects and dismantled two drug dens during separate operations in South Cotabato and Sarangani provinces, an official said Friday.

PDEA-12 Director Aileen T. Lovitos reported that the anti-drug operations were carried out successively on Thursday in this city and in Alabel town, Sarangani province.

The suspects were separately caught holding pot sessions inside the drug dens and a combined amount of more than PHP110,000 worth of shabu was seized.

Lovitos said four suspects were arrested in Barangay San Jose here during an anti-drug operation that yielded shabu worth PHP74,000.

The operation led to the arrest of Fernan Herrera, 31, a target-listed drug personality; Wendel Tiamsing, 27; Gerard Soldevilla Arabia, 40; and Ronnie De Lucas Bermejo, 19, all residents of the same village.

In Sarangani province, agents arrested Gerald Miano, 33, an alleged illegal drug den owner, and suspected drug suppliers Gilbert Ecunas, 32, and Argie Macalua, 36, during a 5 p.m. raid in Barangay Poblacion, Alabel town.

Confiscated from their possession were some PHP36,000 worth of shabu items.

The suspects are now detained in the PDEA-12 detention facility in General Santos City, and charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against them. (PNA)
