MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP), in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), on Tuesday inaugurated the newly constructed police commissioned officers dormitory in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan and PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. graced the event. The project is part of the DPWH Convergence Program called "PNP-DPWH TIKAS" Program.

With a total cost of PHP100 million from the DPWH budget for 2021, the project started on Sept. 3, 2021 and was declared completed on March 13.

The facility is designed to accommodate qualified police commissioned officers stationed in Camp Crame.

"This new facility will not only provide comfortable and safe housing for our dedicated police officers but will also improve their work-life balance and contribute to their overall well-being. We are grateful for the support of our partner agency, DPWH, in this project," Azurin said.

Its construction is one of the government's efforts to enhance the living conditions of the police officers and their families, as well as to strengthen the morale and productivity of the police force.

The PNP and DPWH said they will continue to work together to provide better services and facilities to the Filipino people.

Meanwhile, Senate Minority Floor Leader Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, who attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the PNP New Headquarters building, emphasized the importance of objectivity in the performance of duties and tasks of the PNP.

“Just like you in the PNP, we in the minority are rule enforcers and as law enforcers, we both must be objective in the performance of our duties and tasks. Objectivity in the Senate means that if the proposal is sound, timely, and beneficial, then we should support it," he said.

"Objectivity in police work should mean that the police will implement our criminal laws and all the rules for the maintenance of general peace and order without fear or favor no matter who is involved but always fairly and with compassion,” he added. (PNA)
