MANILA – Three ranking police officials were included in the latest reorganization in the Philippine National Police (PNP).

In an order obtained by the Philippine News Agency (PNA) dated April 18, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said that Calabarzon regional police director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. was named acting PNP director for comptrollership after Maj. Gen. Jesus Cambay vowed out of the police service Wednesday, upon reaching the retirement age of 56.

Designated as the new Calabarzon regional police director was Brig. Gen. Carlito Gaces replacing Nartatez.

Gaces was the deputy director for the administration of the Ilocos regional police office prior to his designation.

Taking over Gaces' post is Col. Antonio Marallag Jr., the deputy chief for operations of the Ilocos regional police office. A replacement for Marallag has yet to be named.

The revamp took effect on April 19.

The designations of the three officers were signed by PNP director for personnel and records management Maj. Gen. Robert Rodriguez "by command" of the PNP chief.

Azurin is due to reach the retirement age of 56 on Monday.

Azurin, a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Makatao” Class of 1989, was appointed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. as the country's 28th top cop in August last year.

Azurin, who has been in police service for over 38 years, is the first PNP chief of the Marcos administration. (PNA)
