MANILA – Intelligence-driven operations from January 1 to April 23 this year have led to the successful arrest of 22,649 persons wanted for murder, rape, robbery, and other heinous crimes.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. said Saturday these achievements in the first quarter of 2023 demonstrate the commitment and dedication of the police force in carrying out its mandate to uphold the rule of law and bring criminals to justice.

Besides the hard work and dedication of PNP personnel, he said closer ties between the police and the community also contributed to the successful arrest of the wanted persons through the information given by concerned citizens.

He vowed that the PNP would continue to intensify its operations against criminal elements in the country.

"We will not rest until all criminals are brought to justice. We will continue to work closely with other law enforcement agencies and the community to ensure that our streets are safe for our fellow Filipinos," he said.

"(But) we cannot do this alone, and we need the help and cooperation of the public. Let us work together towards achieving our common goal of a peaceful and prosperous Philippines," Acorda said. (PNA)
