LEGAZPI CITY – Police arrested a "high-value individual" who yielded PHP6.8 million shabu in a buy-bust at Barangay Sabang in Naga City on Friday morning, a police report said.

Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-Bicol (PRO-5) spokesperson, identified the suspect as John Joseph Yukim, 34, of Barangay Abella, Naga City.

"The police operation resulted in the seizure of 1.2 kilograms of shabu from the suspect's possession. The 200 grams were the subject of the trade with the police poseur buyer, while the one kilogram was confiscated upon search and body frisk in his possession and control," Calubaquib said.

She said the suspect was considered a high-value individual due to his continuing engagement in the sale of drugs.

"He is considered a high-value individual since he was under surveillance for a long period, and the drugs involved in his possession reached more than a million," Calubaquib added.

The suspect is now under the custody of Police Station 1 in Naga City while cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 are being prepared against him.

"Our regional director Brig. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque continues the efforts to suppress the flow of illegal drugs through sustained law enforcement operations. It shall also endeavor to reduce consumer demand for any kinds of illegal drugs through preventive education and awareness drive in support of the "Buhay Ingatan Droga'y Ayawan" (BIDA) program of the government," Calubaquib said.
