MANILA – Taguig City is hosting the Meeting of Styles (MOS), the world's biggest and only global graffiti and street art festival, aimed at fostering connections within the global artistic community.

The three-day street art event, to be participated in by 50 artists, opened at the TLC Park, Laguna Lake Highway in Barangay Lower Bicutan, Taguig City on Friday.

The shipping containers located at the TLC Park, which served as quarantine facilities during the height of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, will become the artists' canvas.

"Aligned with our commitment to becoming a transformative, lively, and caring city, we continuously strive to implement comprehensive initiatives for the development of the arts through various celebrations. Our city's artists also play a vital role in promoting Taguig as a creative hub in the country," Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano said in a statement on Saturday.

The 50 artists, 40 of whom are local, will showcase their skills while giving a global platform to the Filipino art subculture.

"Esteemed local artists, including Quiccs, Egg Fiasco, Chill, Flip1, Kookoo, Meow, Nevs, EXLD, and many others, will be present to showcase their talents. Additionally, booths selling merchandise and food will be available on the premises," Cayetano said.

"During our three-day event, we will witness the works and masterpieces of different artists. The shipping containers, which previously served as quarantine facilities, will now serve as their canvas, breathing new life into the TLC Park."

She said she expects the event to inspire creative individuals, particularly the youth, to pursue art.

"We also aspire for the Meeting of Styles to continue as an avenue that brings people together and supports intercultural exchange. And here in the City of Taguig, we will continue to celebrate art in all its forms," Cayetano said.

The MOS is a non-profit organization formed in 1997 by dedicated and passionate artists and art lovers. (PNA)
