ZAMBOANGA CITY – Eight families from the region who availed of the government’s Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) program received financial assistance on Monday afternoon.

DSWD Regional Riduan Hadjimuddin, who led the distribution of financial assistance, said Tuesday the families received a total of PHP435,000 as part of the Department of Social Welfare and Development's KALAHI-CIDSS Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangays (KKB) BP2 program.

Hadjimuddin said the recipient families are from Zamboanga City and Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte.

“Most of the eight families received Livelihood Settlement Assistance and the rest received Transitory Family Support Assistance. The aid ranges from PHP35,000 to PHP85,000,” Hadjimuding said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the distribution of KKB-BP2 program assistance for 200 families in the provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay Province will be held in the next few days, Hadjimuddin said.

The BP2 is a socioeconomic program by the Philippine government to reverse the migration of people to Metro Manila and other urban areas, dangling various forms of assistance to entice them to return to their home provinces. (PNA)
