DAVAO CITY – At least 1,311 micro-establishments employing less than 10 workers in the Davao Region have complied with the regional Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-11) technical and advisory visit (TAV) approach, a new inspection scheme to guide and assist them.
In a statement Tuesday, DOLE-11 Director Randolf Pensoy said they are targeting more than 7,000 micro establishments in the region to conform with the TAV system.
As of June 21, he said 789 micro establishments in Davao Oriental have complied with the policy, followed by Davao de Oro with 227; Davao City, 128; Davao del Norte, 69; Davao del Sur, 64; and Davao Occidental, 34.
Pensoy said the new inspection rules aim to ensure and maintain higher levels of compliance to labor laws.
On May 17, the DOLE central office introduced the updated strategic inspection framework that includes the TAV along with the conduct of labor, occupational safety, and health investigations.
“Establishments may also opt to enroll in self-paced TAV modules through the learning management system,” Pensoy said.
Towards the end of the TAV, micro-establishments are guided to accomplish and submit the visit checklist.
Pensoy said they require micro-establishments with compliance gaps to accomplish the action plan indicating the strategies, interventions, and further technical assistance needed to achieve compliance and increase productivity.
“They will be given three months to correct the noted noncompliance. This approach endeavors to provide our micro-establishments with a deeper understanding of our law and prompt them of their responsibilities as employers,” he said. (PNA)
