PSA: 1 in 5 households own other lands in 2020

MANILA – Some 5.32 million households or 20.2 percent of the total 26.38 million households own at least one land apart from the land that they own or occupy, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Wednesday reported.

The PSA cited results of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing showing that of the total 26.4 million households, 3.54 million or 13.4 percent own agricultural lands.

Households that owned other residential lands totaled to 2.87 million while households that owned agricultural lands acquired these through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), as agrarian reform beneficiary reached 328,721.

"Among the 17 administrative regions, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) had the highest proportion of households with at least one type of land they owned other than the land they occupy, with 47.7 percent or 209,470 households," the PSA said.

It was followed by Cagayan Valley with 329,684 households and Soccsksargen with 367,443 households.

The National Capital Region (NCR), meanwhile, had the lowest proportion of households with at least one type of land they owned other than the land they occupy with 8.2 percent or 287,297 households.

PSA data further showed that among the 17 regions, Calabarzon had the highest number of households that own residential lands, with 328,708 households.

It was followed by the National Capital Region and Central Visayas. (PNA)
