MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed Emmanuel Rufino Ledesma Jr. as president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

Ledesma’s latest appointment was announced by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Ledesma will also serve as a member of PhilHealth’s expert panel and board of directors.

In November 2022, Ledesma was named as acting PhilHealth chief.

Ledesma used to be president and CEO of the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (PSALM).

The PhilHealth is mandated to administer the National Health Insurance Program which aims to provide health insurance coverage and ensure affordable, acceptable, available and accessible healthcare services for all Filipinos.

Meantime, Col. Jose Luntok was designated as commander of the Light Reaction Regiment, the premier counter-terrorist unit of the Philippine Army.

The PCO also announced the appointment of Khay Ann Magundayao-Borlado as deputy executive director of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).

The PCW is the primary policymaking and coordinating body on women and gender equality concerns.

It continues to build upon the past efforts and achievements in advancing the status of women and acts as a catalyst for gender mainstreaming, the authority on women’s concerns, and advocates for women’s empowerment, gender equity and gender equality.

Marcos also appointed David Erro as a member of the Land Bank of the Philippines’ Board of Directors, representing the agrarian reform beneficiaries.

Based on the new list of presidential appointees, the Director III post will be assumed by Mathias Malenab (Department of Public Works and Highways), Bonifacio Pajuelas (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration), and Reinalyne Varias (Department of Justice’s Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution).

Marcos likewise tapped Romeo Allan Rosales as Bureau of Customs’ Customs Collector IV. (PNA)
