BUTUAN CITY – Forty members of different field units of the Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) are currently undergoing training to further hone their skills and knowledge in disaster response, search, and rescue.

The five-day training on Disaster Preparedness, Search and Rescue, and Retrieval Operations started Monday at the Regional Special Training Unit 13 Center in Santiago town, Agusan del Norte province.

Serving as keynote speaker during the training program opening day was Brig. Gen. Arnel Amor Libed, Deputy Director of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Directorate for Police Community Relations.

In a statement Tuesday, PRO-13 chief Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft said the trainees are undergoing specialized training on the proper response and interventions in times of disasters and calamities.

“They will also be trained on the right applications and the first aid procedures during such events,” Kraft said.

He said the trainees will be guided by a pool of instructors from the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, and Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office in Agusan del Norte.

The training includes inputs and actual simulations on Implementation Plan to Critical Incident Management Operational Procedures and PNP Response Checklist, Mass Casualty Incident System, Rescuer’s Survival Technique and Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue, among others. (PNA)
