MANILA – The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) clarified that it has no connection and is not accrediting any private learning service and training providers of disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) and emergency management-related training.

The agency made this clarification after reports that some private entities are claiming to be affiliated and have been accredited by its Capacity Building Training Service (CBTS).

"Please note that OCD-CBTS is not and has not been accrediting private learning service and training providers offering DRRM and emergency management-related training, except those with existing/active memorandum of agreement (MOA) or memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the office," it said in a Facebook post on Tuesday night.

It added that the illegal use of the logos of the OCD and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in presentations or claims of anyone or any institutions to have been accredited and or recognized by these agencies "will be dealt with by law."

The agency said DRRM standardization in the country is within the ambit of the OCD and of the NDRRMC under Sections 6, 8 and 9 of Republic Act 10121, also known as the Philippine Disaster Reduction and Management Act.

It added that complaints and queries, specifically on training-related concerns, can be sent to [email protected]. for clarification. (PNA)
