MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said six roads and two bridges in the Ilocos Region remained impassable as of 4:30 p.m. Wednesday due to flooding and the damage from Super Typhoon Egay and the southwest monsoon as enhanced by Typhoon Falcon.

A situational report issued by the DPWH-Ilocos on Wednesday said all national roads and bridges in the region are passable except for:

- the Pantay-Daya Bridge along Vigan City-Santa Catalina Road, with an alternate route at Bayubay-Santa Catalina Road; and

- Roxas Bridge along Vigan City-San Vicente Road, with an alternate route at Bantay-Vigan-Caoayan Diversion Road Bantay-Vigan Road, for light vehicles only.

The two bridges are not passable due to their scoured bridge abutment. Meanwhile, the Quirino Pandan Bridge along the Quirino-Pandan Road was temporarily opened as of 5 p.m. on August 2.

The DPWH said preparation and assembly of the bailey bridges for the Quirino Pandan Bridge and Roxas Bridge are ongoing.

The Vigan-Airport Road is also not passable due to the unstable condition of a leaning acacia tree that pose danger to motorists.

“Coordinated with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for cutting the tree at the soonest possible time,” the DPWH said. The alternate route is at Katipunan St., Barangay Pagburnayan, Vigan City.

The DPWH also said the following roads are also not passable to light vehicles:

- Urdaneta Junction - Dagupan-Lingayen Road via Zambales

- Urdaneta Junction - Dagupan-Lingayen Road via Perez;

- Urdaneta Junction - Dagupan-Lingayen Road via Tarlac;

- Dagupan-Bonuan-San Fabian Road; and

- Judge Jose de Venecia Road in Pangasinan.

“(These are) not passable to light vehicles due to flooding. DPWH Teams installed warning signs and are monitoring their areas of responsibility while clearing operations are ongoing,” it added. (PNA)
