2 envoys to China for trade, investments, tourism reappointed

MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has reappointed businessmen Benito Techico and Maynard Ngu as his special envoys to China for trade, investments and tourism, Malacañang announced Wednesday.

Techico and Ngu’s reappointment was announced in a Facebook post by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

Techico and Ngu first assumed the diplomatic post on Feb. 21 and March 3 this year, respectively.

As Marcos' special envoys to China, they are tasked to coordinate with government officials, business leaders and other important stakeholders to advance the economic cooperation between the Philippines and China.

They are responsible for the promotion of international trade and investment between the two nations.

The two reappointed officials are also designated to initiate discussions aimed at maximizing substantial trade and other economic opportunities.

Prior to being appointed as special envoy, Techico served as chief executive officer (CEO) and president of Philippine Blue Cross Biotech Corp.

Ngu, on the other hand, worked as CEO of Cosmic Technologies Inc., the company behind local mobile phone firm Cherry Mobile. (PNA)
