LEGAZPI CITY – After almost two months of closure, the National Museum of the Philippines-Bicol (NMP-Bicol) will reopen its doors to the public on Tuesday.

In a social media post, NMP-Bicol encouraged local and foreign tourists visiting Albay to experience the natural history museum with indoor and outdoor exhibitions about Bicol’s natural heritage.

"The indoor exhibition entitled, Bicolandia: Land of Volcanoes, includes four permanent galleries with creatively curated displays of botanical, zoological, and geological specimens representing the region's unique natural history. It features important geological structures and landforms, rocks, fossils, plants, and animals," the post read.

The exhibition highlights the volcanoes in the region where students and guests can closely study how these mountains of lava were formed.

The outdoor exhibition includes a rock garden of volcanic rocks, a butterfly garden and a nursery of economically important plants in Bicol.

A viewing deck gives a sight of the famous Mayon Volcano.

The NMP-Bicol in Barangay Busay, Daraga town in Albay is one of the 18 NMP-run museums outside of the National Capital Region (NCR).

The museum is open Tuesdays to Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The NMP-Bicol temporarily closed its indoor and outdoor exhibitions last June 9 due to the unrest of Mayon Volcano. (PNA)
