MANILA – The country’s economic team is slated to conduct local economic briefings in the cities of Davao, Cebu, and Laoag to present the Marcos administration’s agenda for economic development.

The local Philippine Economic Briefing (PEB) will be held in Davao City on Wednesday, Cebu City on Friday (Aug. 11), and Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on Monday (Aug. 14), the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced Tuesday.

“The country’s Economic Team will update the local business and finance communities with the economic agenda of the Administration and discuss issues and solutions specific to their respective regions,” the DBM said in a statement.

The local economic roadshows follow the recent PEBs in Singapore, Washington D. C., Frankfurt, London and Toronto.

In the upcoming PEB in Davao, Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno will deliver the keynote message and join the first panel discussion on the country’s high-growth trajectory and socio-economic transformation, the DBM said.

Diokno will be joined by DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Deputy Governor Francisco Dakila Jr., National Economic and Development Authority Undersecretary Joseph Capuno and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. Area vice president for Mindanao Arturo Milan.

The PEB in Davao will be followed by a discussion on the administration’s “Build Better More” program with Secretaries Jaime Bautista (Transportation) and Ivan John Uy (Information and Communications Technology); Undersecretaries Maria Catalina Cabral (Public Works) and Sharon Garin (Energy); Public-Private Partnership Center executive director Ma. Cynthia Hernandez; and Japan International Cooperation Agency Philippines chief representative Sakamoto Takema as panelists.

Another panel will discuss key strategies to transform the Philippine economy, including the revitalization of industry and services.

Secretaries Alfredo Pascual (Trade) and Bienvenido Laguesma (Labor); Undersecretaries Marlo Iringan (Interior), Mae Elaine Bathan (Tourism), and Mercedita Sombilla (Agriculture); and Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. president John Carlo Tria will serve as panelists.

The PEB in Davao will be livestreamed through the DBM’s official Facebook page at 2 p.m. (PNA)
