LUCENA CITY – Members of the Quezon Police Provincial Office - Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (QPPO-PDEU) seized early Wednesday morning over PHP8 million worth of shabu in an anti-drug operation conducted in Purok Baybayin, Barangay Ibabang Dupay, this city.

Quezon Police Director Col. Ledon Monte said PDEU operatives mounted the buy-bust operation against a high-value individual (HVI) identified as Alibsar Macarangkat Macasari.

The suspect is a native of Marawi City in Lanao Del Sur, but is currently residing in General Mariano Alvarez in Cavite.

The 35-year-old Macasari was arrested after selling one sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer, who turned out to be an undercover policeman.

Lawmen subsequently confiscated more shabu in the possession of the suspect, totaling 400 grams, with a street value of around PHP8.2 million, or Dangerous Drugs Board-estimated value of PHP2.7 million.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Lucena City Police Station while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being prepared against him.

Monte told reporters that the arrest of a suspected big-time drug trafficker and seizure of a substantial quantity of illegal drugs was the result of “our continuous efforts to eradicate illegal drugs in the province."

The police official also acknowledged the community's participation in the government's anti-drug campaign by reporting suspicious persons in their community. (PNA)
