MANILA – University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos student Romeo Constancio has collected three gold medals in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Games Visayas leg in Iloilo City.

After topping the Philippine Air Force 4x100m relay in 49.6 seconds last Tuesday, Constancio earned two more golds on Wednesday from the men's 100m in 11.5 seconds and the 4x400m relay with David Paul Balagat, John Lloyd Moreno and Christian Sericon, in the final day of the athletics competition at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

“I am very thankful to our Creator for this wonderful gift. I never expected this. It's my time to participate in a multi-event meet,” said 20-year-old BS Criminology sophomore, a native of Pulupandan, Negros Occidental.

"I knew that (Peter) Molina won the 20om. He's fast. But I told myself 'this is my time also to test my capability.' I just trusted myself,” he added.

In the Philippine Army division, Jerson Gison of West Visayas State University ruled the men's 100m in 11.7 seconds.

Meanwhile, Piepet Prebillo of Filamera Christian School in Capiz dominated the women's 100m in the Philippine Army division.

It was the second gold medal for 20-year-old Prebillo after winning the 200m in 27.91 seconds last Tuesday.

“I’m very happy to win both the 100m and 200m, and become the fastest woman in this competition,” said the second-year BS Criminology student.

In women's volleyball, Leyte Colleges (LTC) marched into the semifinal after posting a 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-16 victory over Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT) at the University of San Agustin Gymnasium.

Sig Dacillo scored 13 points for LTC, while Ronamie Capuras led SCSIT with 16 points.

"Just be calm, be ready and alert. That's all that's needed and observe how the ball moves," LTC head coach Bob Montejo told his players.

The three branches of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), including the Philippine Navy, will have their own respective competition and separate winners in the tournament, which is a collaboration among the Commission on Higher Education, Department of National Defense, AFP, and the Philippine Sports Commission.
