DAVAO CITY – At least 2,000 vacancies will be available for jobseekers at the Kadayawan Jobs Fair on Aug. 25 at the Almendras Gym here, an official said Thursday.

Lilibeth Pantinople, Public Employment Service Office (PESO)-Davao City manager, said the event is in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in Davao Region (TESDA-11) for the continuing month-long celebration of the Kadayawan Festival.

At least 37 local companies and 10 overseas agencies will participate in the job fair, which will feature in-demand positions for nurses, cleaners, and butchers, she said.

“Applicants are advised to wear business casual attire and pre-registration is not required as both PESO and TESDA will be catering to walk-in applicants,” Pantinople said in an interview Thursday.

Aside from facilitating employment opportunities, she said TESDA will also open its World Café of Opportunities program during the job fair.

Meanwhile, TESDA-11 regional operations division chief Myrna Roa said the program will be open to applicants both in the region and from other areas.

Apart from offering jobs, Roa said TESDA will also feature skill demonstrations and lectures on agricultural drone operation, cake making, and flair tending.

Applicants who are not hired immediately will still be included in TESDA's jobseeker database, she added.

“Being on the list will automatically qualify them to TESDA’s capability-building and skills training where jobseekers can enhance their skills to suit better job opportunities,” she said. (PNA)
