MEYCAUAYAN CITY, Bulacan – World-renowned all-male choral group from Germany Renner Ensemble Regensburg, with its conductor Hans Pritschet, is in a two-week visit in the country for a concert tour in Makati and Bulacan, including this city.

Renner Ensemble Regensburg has partnered with the Philippine Madrigal Singers (Madz) for their performances here, as the latter aims to build the Choral Art and Music Performance Center.

Part of their concert tour were performances at the recently inaugurated Tanghalang Meycaueño and in San Jose del Monte City early this week.

Meycauayan Mayor Henry Villarica and Bulacan 4th District Rep. Linabelle Villarica received the German choir on Tuesday.

"We are opening wide our cultural doors to the world. We are very fortunate indeed to be able to book Germany's internationally recognized and multi-awarded choir to become our first ever international artist in a one-time performance at Tanghalang Meycaueño," the lawmaker said in her speech.

On Sept. 1, Renner Ensemble Regensburg will be joining Male ENsemble Philippines (MEN) and violinist Bry Cimafranca for the "It's Raining Men" concert at the Ayala Museum.

On Sept. 2, the visiting choir will be performing with Madz at the Philippine International Convention Center for the "'Tis the Season" concert.

On Sept. 3, the all-male group will be performing in the by-invitation event Song Offering Art Reason (SOAR) at the Ayala Museum.

Renner Ensemble Regensburg was named after the Regensburg Cathedral organist and composer Josef Renner Jr. It was founded by long-time choirmaster Bernd Englbrecht.

Renner Ensemble Regensburg was named by Germany's classical music prizes Opus Klassik as the "Choral Recording of the Year" in 2018.

The group also participated in the 2015 International Male Voice Choral Festival in Cornwall, England. (PNA)
