US economy expands 2.1% in Q2, below estimates

 
ISTANBUL – The US economy expanded by 2.1 percent in the second quarter of 2023, less than market estimates, the Commerce Department's second reading released on Wednesday showed.
 
Market expectation for the figure is an expansion of 2.4 percent in gross domestic product (GDP), same as the first reading made last month.
 
The US economy grew by 2 percent in the first quarter of this year.
 
The current dollar GDP increased at an annual rate of 4.1 percent, or USD268.6 billion, in the second quarter to reach USD26.8 trillion, the Commerce Department said in the  statement.
 
Current dollar personal income increased USD232.1 billion in the second quarter, a downward revision of the USD3.9 billion from the previous estimate, it said.
 
Personal saving was USD892.3 billion in the second quarter, an upward revision of USD22.7 billion from the previous estimate, it added. (Anadolu)
