MANILA — The Archdiocese of Caceres in Camarines Sur has launched its mobile app as part of its preparation to mark the centenary of the pontifical coronation of the image of Our Lady of Peñafrancia next year.

In a social media post late Monday night, the archdiocese said the “InaPeñafrancia” app will provide devotees with one-stop access to all matters related to devotion to the Our Lady of Peñafrancia.

Aside from prayers, event schedules, and faith testimonies, it will also help users keep track of Peñafrancia activities abroad.

The device software is currently free and available both on iOS and Android.

According to the archdiocese's Commission on Social Communications, the mobile app aims to further promote the devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia.

“This will assist the devotees to foster more devotion and deepen their faith in God. This is regional devotion that has been spreading throughout the globe,” it added.

On May 13, 1920, then Pope Benedict XV authorized the canonical coronation of the image, in response to the petition of Bishop John Bernard McGinley.

Apostolic Delegate, Archbishop Guglielmo Piani, led the crowning on Sept. 20, 1924 at the Naga Cathedral grounds. (PNA)
