MANILA – The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) has already notified the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (HAGOC) of the possible changes to the composition of the Philippine team to this year's Asian Games in China.

A pre-delegation registration meeting took place via online teleconferencing on Wednesday, where POC president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino bared that new athletes will come in for the Philippine team, including the new Gilas Pilipinas that will compete in the men's 5x5 basketball event.

Tolentino clarified that the replacements would still need approval from HAGOC.

“We are pushing hard for the changes in the rosters of some of our national teams to guarantee that they strong finish in the games,” Tolentino said. “The POC has already advised the HAGOC of the possible change in the composition of the Philippine delegation and let’s hope that the changes will be approved, but we are insisting hard.”

Another registration meeting is set for Sept. 17, where HAGOC will announce if the POC's appeal will be approved or not.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and Philippine Basketball Association will hold a press conference on Thursday at the league office in Quezon City to announce the new Gilas team to the Asian Games, including the new head coach following Chot Reyes' resignation after their FIBA World Cup campaign.
