2 Singaporeans yield P76-M cocaine at NAIA

MANILA – Two female Singaporean passengers were arrested for allegedly trying to slip into the country some PHP76.1 million worth of cocaine at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City early Thursday.

In a report, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said members of the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) nabbed Siti Aishah Awang, 63; and Nur Alavuyah Binti Hanaffe, 39, upon their arrival at the NAIA Terminal 3 at around 1 a.m.

The suspects arrived from Doha, Qatar onboard Qatar Airways Flight QR 928, the report added.

Seized from the two Singaporeans were some 14,360 grams of suspected cocaine contained in 341 pellets.

The suspects and pieces of evidence were brought to the PDEA Office for proper documentation and disposition.

They will be charged with violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002 and RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. (PNA)
