MANILA – Malacañang on Friday released the names of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s new appointees, including associate justices of the Court of Appeals (CA), Court of Tax Appeals (CTA), and Sandiganbayan.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) posted on its official Facebook page the list of newly appointed officials.

Marcos appointed Lorna Francisca Catris Cheng, Ma. Consejo Gengos-Ignalaga, and Raymond Joseph Javier as CA associate justices.

Henry Angeles was designated CTA associate justice, while Juliet Manalo-San Gaspar was named associate justice of Sandiganbayan.

Marcos, meanwhile, tapped former Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief-of-staff Gen. Andres Centino as Presidential Assistant for Maritime Concerns.

Malacañang first announced in July that Centino had been appointed as Presidential Adviser on the West Philippine Sea.

Apart from serving as AFP chief, Centino was also designated as Philippine Army chief from May 14 to Dec. 10, 2021.

His other assignments include commander of the 4th Infantry Division, AFP deputy-chief-of-staff for operations or J-3 in military parlance and head of the 401st Infantry Brigade.

Centino graduated cum laude from the Philippine Military Academy.

Marcos also reappointed Teodoro Herbosa as Department of Health (DOH) secretary after the Commission on Appointments failed to discuss his nomination because of lack of time and the large volume of questions.

Herbosa first assumed the ad interim role in June, nearly a year after Marcos took office.

He was DOH undersecretary from 2010 to 2015 and served as special adviser to the National Task Force Against Covid-19 under the Duterte administration. (PNA)
