MANILA – The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, popularly known as Manila Cathedral, in Intramuros on Monday said it would feature images of the Blessed Virgin Mary this October, the month of the Holy Rosary.

“Every week, there will be images that will be enthroned so that we could pray before these images the Holy Rosary. Let us pray that the graces coming from the praying of the rosary will be showered upon us,” Manila Cathedral rector Monsignor Rolando dela Cruz said in a social media post.

The first images to arrive on Oct. 1 were of the Nuestra Señora de la Salud and Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Rosario - La Naval de Manila. The images will be enthroned until Oct. 7.

The Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion de Maasin will be at the Cathedral Oct. 4 to 6; the Nuestra Señora de Fatima is scheduled Oct. 8 to 14; and the Nuestra Señora del Pilar can be visited from Oct. 15 to 21.

For the rest of the month, the schedule of image of the Nuestra Señora de Medalla Milagrosa will be from Oct. 22 to 28; and the Nuestra Señora de Guia will be at the Minor Basilica from Oct. 29 to 31.

Aside from personal intentions, dela Cruz asked the Catholic faithful to also offer prayers for world peace and the Philippines.

“I encourage you and your family to pray the rosary especially during this month of October. Let us pray for peace of the world. Let us pray for our country” he said.

“Let us pray for our people especially those who are working abroad, and in a special way let us pray for the synod of bishops that will be gathering this week to discuss synodality,” he added.

The synod is set to be held in the Vatican City from Oct. 4 to 29 to discuss how the Catholic Church should move forward and how to respond to present issues. (PNA)
