MANILA – Farmers and other stakeholders will now have easy access to information on the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Mechanization Program through a portal launched by the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (DA-PHilMech).

PHilMech director Dionisio Alvindia led the launch of the RCEF Program Monitoring and Reporting Information System (PMIS) at the agency's central office in Quezon City on Monday, the DA-PHilMech said in a news release on Tuesday.

The PMIS is an internet-based information platform that features a comprehensive set of essential data related to mechanization and extension support vital for the RCEF's implementation.

It also features a user-friendly interface capable of generating a diverse data set tailored to the user’s preferences which would benefit key stakeholders such as farmers, partner agencies and policymakers.

May Ville Castro, acting chief of the PHilMech's Facility Management and Field Operations Division (FMFOD), said the PMIS was created to assist both internal and external clients in generating reports concerning the RCEF and to incorporate data analytics for added insights.

“Users can access our data based on their specific needs. Whether internal stakeholders seeking real-time field insights or external clients requesting vital reports, such as legislative bodies or the DA central office, our system enables swift report generation with just a click, and these reports are readily downloadable," Castro said.

During the launch, a comprehensive walkthrough of the PMIS was conducted to demonstrate its various features for accessing real-time data of the RCEF Mechanization Program, including its dashboards, modules and RCEF reports.

DA Field Operations Service director U-Nichols Manalo said the portal would help generate progress reports on the implementation of the RCEF Mechanization Program, both financial and physical accomplishment reports.

The integration of the PMIS into other essential components of the mechanization program is included in the PHilMech's information system roadmap. (PNA)
