6.2 magnitude quake jolts parts of Northern Luzon

LAOAG CITY – A 6.2 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of Northern Luzon on Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said it traced the quake’s epicenter at 22 km. northwest of Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan province.

The earthquake, which hit the area at about 11:35 a.m., was of tectonic origin and was 10 km. deep.

Nearby Laoag City and Pasuquin in Ilocos Norte felt the tremor at Intensity IV.

Marcell Tabije, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council officer of Ilocos Norte, said no damage was reported as a result of the tremor in the province. (PNA)
