MANILA – At least four flights to and from El Nido in Palawan were canceled as of Tuesday afternoon due to unfavorable weather conditions, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said.

These flights are AirSwift (T6) 112 and 114 Manila-El Nido; and T6 121 and 127 El Nido-Manila.

The MIAA said only AirSwift flies between Manila and El Nido.

MIAA's record showed that AirSwift flight T6 710 departed for El Nido at 6:44 a.m., while T6 538 landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 10:15 a.m.

Earlier, the state-run weather bureau said the trough of a low pressure area will cause rains over parts of the country

Additional flights

Meanwhile, flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) will reopen several domestic routes, while low-cost airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) will increase international capacity, both companies announced Tuesday.

Beginning Dec. 15, PAL will operate daily between Cebu and General Santos City, as well as Cebu-Bicol; while from Dec. 16, thrice-weekly flights between Cebu and Ozamiz City resume.

“We look forward to flying more passengers and creating more healthy connections through the resumption of our Cebu-General Santos, Cebu-Legazpi and Cebu-Ozamiz routes, in time for the peak holiday season," PAL president Stanley Ng said in a news release.

He added that the routes will allow the locals to connect more conveniently via Cebu to Iloilo, Bacolod, Tacloban, Davao, Busuanga and other domestic destinations, as well as to Bangkok in Thailand, Tokyo-Narita in Japan, and Seoul-Incheon in South Korea.

On the other hand, CEB said it increased its international capacity by 63 percent of pre-pandemic level.

"CEB will finish 2023 with over 700,000 more international seats than last year," the airline said in a statement.

To support the expansion, CEB will have seven additional aircrafts before yearend. (PNA)
