Generals triumph over Chiefs in NCAA men’s basketball

MANILA – Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) outplayed Arellano University, 79-76, to forge a two-way tie for third place in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 99 men's basketball at the Filoil EcoOil Arena in San Juan on Friday.

JP Maguiliano had 19 points and seven rebounds while King Gurtiza and Nat Cosejo added 14 and 12 points, respectively as the EAC Generals improved to 4-2, the same record as idle Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers.

Arellano, which fell to 1-5, was led by Jade Talampas, who had 20 points. Troy Valencia had 16 while Jaedan Ongotan and Lorenz Capulong scored 10 points apiece.

Meanwhile, the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta defeated San Sebastian College, 64-50, to claim its second victory.

Jelo Razon made 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals for the Altas, who posted a 35-26 lead at halftime.

Christian Pagaran chipped in 14 points, three rebounds, two assists and two blocks, while Marcus Nitura had 13 points and five rebounds as Perpetual sent the Stags to their fourth loss in six outings.

Romel Calahat had 13 points, 11 rebounds, one steal and one block for San Sebastian, which moved to within 40-41 following Tristan Felebrico's free throws with 1:23 remaining in the third period.

Felebrico finished with eight points and five rebounds while Rafael Are contributed eight points, seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. (PNA)
