LEGAZPI CITY – A total of 103 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Bicol region are set to join the mainstream market by featuring handicrafts and various delicacies at the Orgullo kan Bikol (OKB) Trade and Travel Fair at Shangri-La Plaza mall in Mandaluyong City from Oct. 19-22.

Spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the “Orgullo kan Bicol” – which means meaning Bicol's pride – will display a diverse range of products from the six provinces of the region, DTI-Bicol spokesperson Jocelyn Berango said in an interview on Wednesday.

"Products that are up for sale are export-ready, including processed foods, ceramics, furniture/furnishings, fine jewelry, wearables and home style, holiday decors and other products that will surely delight buyers. The world-class packaging of our food products is now competitive and ready to conquer the world market," Berango said.

Of the 103 exhibitors, 25 are new MSMEs, which will be given full marketing assistance through the fair, she said.

"They will introduce 253 new products as the result of DTI-Bicol product development activities before the event. Our offerings will surely captivate a new breed of discriminating buyers who look for exceptional items that have intrinsic beauty and value," Berango said.

She said the exhibitors are from Albay (20); Camarines Norte (15); Camarines Sur (18); Catanduanes (17); Masbate (13); and Sorsogon (20).

Berango said the OKB Trade Fair is in its 28th year and not only serves as a platform to highlight the region’s rich heritage but also allows everyone to rediscover and appreciate the craftsmanship of Bicolanos. (PNA)
