MANILA – Top favorite Bea Bell of the Bell Racing Stables ruled the second leg of the 2023 Philippine Racing Commission (Philracom) Juvenile Stakes Series at the Metro Manila Turf Club in Malvar, Batangas on Sunday.
The grey filly by He's Had Enough out of Tocqueville and trained by Donato Sordan won by around seven lengths.
Melaine Habla's Morning After finished second followed by Over Azooming and Heartening To See.
"Wala akong masasabi dun sa kabayo na ito, malamig ang ulo. Halos nag-rekta lang ako at marami pa siyang itatakbo (I can't say anything about this horse, it is cool-headed. I almost just directed and he had a lot of running to do)," said jockey Jonathan Hernandez after the race.
The Donato Sordan-trained galloper, which also dominated the recent Maiden Stakes, added PHP1,080,000 to her young career.
Professional volleyball player Bea de Leon received the owner's trophy along with her father and breeder of Bea Bell, Bell Racing's top man Elmer Thomas de Leon.
"Congratulations to Bea, Elmer, Donnie (Sordan) and JB (Hernandez) for winning the Juvenile 2nd Leg. And to the racing aficionados, I believe that we have just witnessed the emergence of the next track superstar.
