MANILA – Davies Paint-Adamson stamped the Philippine Coast Guard team, 25-19, 25-22, 25-14, for its first victory in Pool C of the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference at the Paco Arena in Manila Sunday night.

Francis Casas and Marc Kenneth Paulino delivered the points that gave the Soaring Falcons a 22-12 advantage en route to victory.

“So far, so good kasi ang sabi ko sa kanila 'yung first game kailangan umpisahan natin ng maganda para kahit papaano,'yung confidence ma-build namin at the same time (So far, so good because I told them the first game we need to start well so that somehow, we can build confidence at the same time),” said Adamson head coach George Pascua.

Mark Leo Coguimbal led the Soaring Falcons with 14 points, including seven blocks followed by Casas, who had nine spikes and two blocks, and Paulino scored nine attacks. Lourenz Domingo had 16 excellent sets while Lorence Canlas made eight receptions and three digs.

Aidam Adam and Lerry Francisco scored eight points, while Bobby Gatdula added six points for the Lifesavers.

“'Yung experience nila (sana mabuild) kasi ito na 'yung pinakamatibay namin na pre-game eh. Sana ayun, mag-gain kami ng confidence at the same time 'yung chemistry mas tumibay kasi medyo bata pa sila eh (Their experience (hopefully built) because this is our strongest pre-game. Hopefully, we will gain confidence and at the same time the chemistry will be stronger because they are still quite young),” Pascua said.

Adamson's next game will be against Santa Rosa on Wednesday.

"Sabi ko nga sa kanila, any game kailangan paghandaan namin ‘yan. Syempre kung ano 'yung mga possible na collective effort na pwede naming gawin, gagawin namin. 'Yung mga lapses namin, 'yun 'yung aayusin namin para ma-polish pa namin (I told them, any game we need to prepare for that. Of course, what are the possible collective efforts that we can do, we will do. Our lapses, that's what we will fix so that we can polish it)," Pascua added.

Meanwhile, Ranran Abdilla scored 14 points on 12 attacks as the Philippine Air Force downed SASKIN-PCU Dasmariñas, 25-18, 25-22, 26-24, in Pool B.

Philippine Army rallied past D'Navigators-Iloilo, 21-25, 25-14, 25-19, 22-25, 15-12, in Pool A, while Chef on a Diet-FEU survived 21-25, 23-25, 26-24, 25-19, 15-12 PGJC-Navy in Pool D. (PNA)
