SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – Antique Electric Cooperative (Anteco), the lone distribution utility in the province, assured there will be no power outage during the Oct. 30 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

Anteco General Manager Neil Peter Veñegas said in an interview Thursday they have inspected their seven substations to ensure they are operational.

“We have seven substations inspected as to their reliability to distribute power during Election Day,” he said.

Two substations are in San Jose de Buenavista, and the rest are in the municipalities of Culasi, Bugasong, Sibalom, Hamtic, and Tobias Fornier.

He added they coordinated with the Panay Energy Development Corporation (PEDC) and their other three power generators to make sure they had enough power supply.

“There will be around 100 Anteco personnel, including the linemen, on standby in case there will be unexpected power interruption,” Veñegas said.

They will be deployed in 18 towns and down to barangays a day before Oct. 30 for immediate dispatch when there is a need to check electrical lines or respond to any technical problems that could cause an unexpected power interruption.

He also urged the public to report to Anteco hotlines in case of a power outage in their area.

Veñegas added they are closely coordinating with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Antique provincial office in case they need assistance, particularly in removing illegally posted tarpaulin and other campaign materials mounted on their electrical posts.

Anteco has 118,000 member-consumers, consisting of households and commercial establishments throughout the province. (PNA)
