Adamson pole vaulter pockets U18 gold in 2023 Cel Logistics

MANILA – Aaron Prince Angeles of Adamson University won the men's U18 pole vault gold medal in the 2023 Cel Logistics, Inc. Weekly Relay Series Finals at the Philsports track and field stadium in Pasig City on Sunday.

Angeles cleared 3.80 meters to prevail over University of Santo Tomas bets Francis Allen Sillar (3.20) and Rushden Hadrian Diaz (3.10).

In the 2,000m steeplechase, Liznie Delfino of Bohol pocketed the women's gold medal with a time of 7:42.92, beating Lyka Mae Raterta of UST (7:51.57) and Loraine Audrey Batalla of Team Iskola-CalamBAGO (7:55.40).

For her outstanding performance, the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) will send Delfino to the 2023 Southeast Asian Youth Athletic Championship Games in Bangkok, Thailand in December.

In the men's division, Randy Degolacion of Jose Rizal University bagged the gold medal in 6:20.89. Jerico Cagad of Dasmariñas City Athletics Team (6:24.22) settled for the silver while Ian Llarenas of Blazing Athletics of Lucban (6:26.05) took the bronze.

Other winners in the U18 category were Alfredo Pineda (University of Perpetual Help System DALTA) and Asheley Mecel Tabad (UST) in 200m; Aljay Raz (San Beda) and Jonalyn Halasan (Aksyon Atleta) in long jump; Nicola Marco Nieto (Ateneo) and Louise Victoria Manangan (UE) in shot put; Hernalou Lumandao (Muntinlupa Emeralds) and Jamaica Kate Saligan (UST) in 400m hurdles; Randy Degolacion (Perpetual) and Loraine Audrey (Team Iskola-CalamBAGO) in 800m; and Denver Tacay (University of Baguio) and Jazen Araño (UE) in hammer throw.

Meanwhile, UST has secured four gold medals courtesy of Jeanne Arnibal (women's long jump), Rashied Faith Burdeos (women's shot put), Mailene Pamisaran (women's 200m) and Sean Harry Narag (men's pole vault) in the U20 category.

Rizal Technological University's Zoren Lepalam and Angelica Saludares dominated the 400m hurdles, while the winners in the 3000m steeplechase were UE's Karl Angelo Oxales and University of Baguio's Angel May Saysay.

Also topping their respective events were Mapua's Lorence Beron (men's long jump), TOJ-One Cainta Athletics Team's John Dave Tumangan (men's 200m), Perpetual's Chinno Balmores (men's shot put), and Saint Michael's College of Laguna's Regem John Furigay (men's 5000m walk). (PNA)
