CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Some 4,000 police personnel have been deployed in cemeteries and transport terminals in Central Luzon to ensure the safety and security of the public during the observance of "Undas" or All Saints' and All Souls' Days on Nov. 1 and 2.

Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., director of the Police Regional Office-Central Luzon (PRO-3), said on Tuesday that police personnel have been strategically deployed to provide comprehensive coverage of cemeteries and transport terminals around the clock from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.

Hidalgo said 3,000 police personnel are assigned in police hubs and police assistance desks in cemeteries, major transport terminals and other areas of public congregation.

“Stringent checkpoints, chokepoints and border control operations are also underway along the main supply route leading to police camps all with the sole purpose of ensuring that no untoward incidents occur,” he said in an interview.

Hidalgo said some 1,000 police personnel have been positioned in designated motorist assistance centers, serving as road safety marshals along major thoroughfares and secondary roads in the region.

He also urged the public to remain vigilant to prevent lawless elements from carrying out any nefarious activities.

“We advise the public not to hesitate to report any incident to the police in your nearest police station or through (the) PNP hotline number 0998-598-5330/ 09175562597,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways-Central Luzon (DPWH-3) also deployed motorist assistance teams in strategic locations on major thoroughfares in the region starting Tuesday until Nov. 2.

“The Lakbay-Alalay Teams from our 16 district engineering offices throughout Central Luzon will be deployed in round-the-clock shifts to ensure full public service during the observance of All Saints' and All Souls' Days,” DPWH-3 Regional Director Roseller Tolentino said in a statement. (PNA)
