MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection and the Philippine Coast Guard have deployed motorists assistance groups all over the Ilocos Region for Undas.

In an interview on Tuesday, Pangasinan Police Provincial Office information officer Capt. Renan dela Cruz said they are still on heightened alert status and all personnel are deployed to assist motorists during the All Saints’ Day (Nov. 1) and All Souls’ Day (Nov. 2) holidays.

“We have quick response teams and motorists assistance teams all over the region as well as designated assistance desks in all the cemeteries of Pangasinan to ensure an orderly and peaceful commemoration of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day,” he said.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ilocos Police regional director Brig. Gen. DPWH Ilocos Region public affairs officer Esperanza Tinaza, in a statement, said there are 21 Lakbay Alalay motorists assistance kiosks, manned by personnel from their regional and district engineering offices, deployed all over the region from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.

Tinaza said the teams will help maintain smooth traffic flow across the entire region, particularly on the national highways leading to both public and private cemeteries.

“The teams will be hard at work, performing essential maintenance tasks such as installing visible informative and regulatory warning signs, managing traffic devices and addressing road maintenance needs on pavements, bridges, road shoulders, drainages, regravelling and vegetation control,” she said.
