SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique –The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Antique province has reminded candidates who vied for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (BSKE) to submit their statement of contributions and expenditures (SOCE) with their respective municipal election officers on or before the Nov. 29 deadline.

Antique Provincial Election Supervisor Salud Milagros Villanueva said in an interview on Friday that all the candidates whether they won, lost, or even withdrew in the Oct. 30 polls would have to submit their SOCE as a requirement.

“The Comelec is now waiting for candidates to submit their SOCE,” she said, but so far none has yet to comply.

She said the submission of the SOCE is a requirement prescribed by the Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines to determine compliance with the expenditure limit of a candidate.

“Candidates may download the SOCE form at the Comelec website or could ask for the form from their respective election officers,” she said.

She likewise said that candidates should submit machine-encoded SOCEs instead of handwritten ones.

In a separate interview, San Remigio town mayor Margarito Mission, Jr. urged the barangay captains and other candidates in his town to comply with the Comelec requirements and must no longer wait for the deadline in the filing of their SOCE.

“I urge the candidates to start filing their SOCEs with the Comelec,” he said.

Mission said that 43 out of the total 45 barangay captains have been endorsed by him during the elections which is why he would like them to set an example. (PNA)
