BINMALEY, Pangasinan – The bereaved family of Angelyn Aguirre, the 32-year-old overseas Filipino worker who was killed while protecting her elderly ward during the Hamas attack in Kibbutz Kfar Aza Israel on Oct. 7, will receive financial assistance from the governments of the Philippines and Israel.

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) administrator Arnaldo Ignacio said the family will get PHP220,000 in death and burial benefits.

As an active member of OWWA, the family will also get PHP15,000 in educational and livelihood support from the agency, Ignacio added during the start of Aguirre's wake at her residence here.

Her remains arrived in Manila on Friday.

Every five years, the family will receive PHP50,000 for the maintenance of Aguirre’s grave.

Meanwhile, the Israeli government vowed to provide the family a monthly financial assistance between PHP94,000 and PHP134,000.

"The exact amount is still to be determined by the Israeli government," Ignacio said.

Aguirre gained the respect and admiration of the world as she refused to leave the Israeli woman amid the attack.

They were both killed when the terrorists found them just as they were trying to get inside a bomb shelter, according to reports.

Ignacio assured the assistance includes job provisions for Aguirre's siblings.

"Hindi sila iiwan ng gobyerno at nakikiisa kami sa kanilang pagdadalamhati. Role ng gobyerno ay pasanin ang mga nakakabigat sa kanila (The government will not leave them and we are one in mourning with them. The government's role is to carry the load they are carrying right now)," he said.

The provincial government likewise provided PHP100,000 in financial assistance.

Aguirre will be buried on Sunday since her remains are already in the decomposition phase. (PNA)
