MANILA – The GM Rosendo Carreon Balinas Jr. team will compete in the 1st Gov. Henry Oaminal 8-in-1 Chess Festival scheduled Nov. 10 to 12 at Ozamiz City Auditorium in Misamis Occidental.

The team is composed of GM Rogelio "Joey" Antonio Jr. (Board 1), Drigo "Ringo" Acero Teves (Board 2) and Candidate Master–elect Michael Jan Stephen “Bonbon” Inigo (Board 3).

Teves is hoping to improve on his seventh-place finish in the 2022 Manny Pacquiao Chess League Tuna Festival.

“What attracts me the most in chess today is meeting legends like Eugene Torre, Joey Antonio, Rico Mascarinas, and Judge Rosendo Bandal. I love chess very much and I hope this time I’ll give a good fight whatever it takes.” Teves said in an interview on Tuesday.

He drew with Rodney Opada and Rowell Roque in seven rounds at the MPCL Tuna Festival in General Santos City.

The Gov. Henry Oaminal 8-in-1 Chess Festival is organized by National Chess Federation of the Philippines director and Asenso Misamis Occidental Chess Association president Rey Cris Urbiztondo as part of the province's 94th anniversary celebrations.
