DAVAO CITY – A Davao del Norte road project worth PHP208.8 million got the green light for implementation after the provincial government received the certificate of eligibility of their proposed subproject for funding under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Scale-Up program.

The proposed project involves the rehabilitation of the Km.15 Kipalili-New Loon farm-to-market road (FMR) with a bridge in San Isidro town.

Provincial Administrator Josie Jean Rabanoz said aside from providing investments that have helped improve the lives of farmers in their rural communities, the PRDP has also provided the province with valuable lessons and best practices for implementing their projects.

“For instance, the FMRs provided market access and significantly reduced travel time and transportation costs and minimized postharvest losses,” Rabanoz said in a statement Thursday.

Rabanoz also noted that FMR projects have helped remote farming communities increase their income and “encouraged farmers to expand their production areas.”

With the go-signal, she said, the provincial project management and implementation unit could proceed with the procurement process for rehabilitating the project. (PNA)
