7-day ops net over 1.7K violators of local ordinances in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY – At least 1,730 individuals found violating the ordinances in their respective localities were arrested during the series of police operations conducted from Nov. 5 to 11.

Major Jennifer Omiter, the Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) information chief, said most of the apprehensions during the weeklong operations were on traffic and curfew violations.

“All of those apprehended violating the curfew hours imposed in the different localities were minors,” Omiter said in a phone interview on Monday.

Based on PRO-13 Regional Operations Division records, 1,579 were apprehended for traffic violations, 87 minors for violating curfew hours, 22 for drinking and smoking in public places, three for roaming the streets without shirts and 39 others for other cases of disobedience.

Records also indicated that most of the apprehensions were done in Agusan del Norte with 446 violators, Agusan del Sur (437), Butuan City (363), Surigao del Sur (228), Surigao del Norte (199) and Dinagat Islands (57). (PNA)
